The National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) has announced that from April 16 to August 3, a total of 99 confirmed cases of measles were reported in Kosovo.
In the last week alone, 21 new cases have been registered.
The largest number of cases has been registered in Pristina with 33, followed by Fushë Kosova with 25, Ferizaj with 12 and Kaçanik with 7 cases.
Three cases each are in Drenas, Lipjan and Obiliq, two each in Gjilan, Skenderaj, Shtime and Vushtrri. And one each in Deçan, Graçanica, Podujevo, Shtërpcë and Viti,
Compared to last year, there has been an increase in the number of confirmed cases. In August 2025, there were 65 cases.
"NIKSHPK recommends that any person with suspected measles symptoms, such as high fever, rash or skin changes, cough, runny nose or conjunctivitis, immediately report to the nearest health institution. Given the high infectiousness of measles, the risk of its spread in the community and the complications caused by measles, NIKSHPK calls on parents and guardians to verify the vaccination status of their children and ensure vaccination according to the regular Immunization Calendar at family medicine centers. Vaccination remains the most effective and safest measure for preventing measles, protecting unvaccinated individuals and preserving public health," NIKSHPK announced.
