The chief diplomat of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, and the deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Ariana Musliu-Shoshi, clashed in the Committee for Foreign Affairs. The reason was the salary of 7500 euros of the external expert at the Ministry of Interior, Gani Jakupi.
After the presentation of the budget for this Ministry for the year 2024 by Gërvalla, Musliu-Shoshi, there was a series of criticisms about her work.
"We have constant threats from Serbia. You as a minister do not come to the Commission to tell us what our missions are doing. You are a minister who is under EU measures. We have not paid an external advisor 7.500 euros, which is higher than the salaries of the Kosovo Police".
"Tell us what you are doing with this budget. Please answer a concrete question, is Gani Jakupi paid 7.500 euros per month", said Musliu-Shoshi, EO reports.
Minister Gërvalla said that Gani Jakupi, who is reported to have a monthly salary of 7,500 euros, is not her adviser, but is engaged on the basis of a contract. In fact, Gërvalla has called Jakupi's payment modest, as he expressed that he is sorry for the whole campaign that is being done against him.

"With this modest amount that is not a monthly salary, it is very modest for all the lobbying he does. He is not my advisor, he has a contract. I am sorry that Gani Jakupi faces such a campaign", she said.
While he accused Musliu-Shoshin that the PDK was 50 times more expensive for the same services.
"As for the payment of 7.500 euros, the party you represent has paid 50 times more. For PDK, I hesitate to discuss finances, I listened to you because you only use the microphone to tell lies. This is not a salary, it is a project connected with clear objectives".
It has been reported that 7 thousand and 500 euros is the salary with which Gani Jakupi is paid by the Government of Kosovo for the position of adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, this department which is led by Donika Gërvalla. It was reported in the media that Jakupi lives in Spain, but has been engaged by the Kosovo ambassador in Brussels, Agron Bajrami, as an external adviser on cultural and media issues, EkonomiaOnline reported.
"Gani Jakupi does not owe Kosovo more than all the citizens of Kosovo and he does not owe this whole campaign against him. I am happy that Gani Jakupi like many other professionals around the world who have never disconnected the connection with Kosovo with all the extraordinary success they have had in their professional lives, such as Dua Lipa and Rita Ora, who have no need to be profiled through the Republic of Kosovo, but rather help the Republic of Kosovo so that we find care and attention deserved in the world. Therefore, Gani Jakupi within a contract that is entirely based on local legislation which is an instrument used continuously not only in the case of Gani Jakupi, to achieve certain objectives which cannot we reach them in formal, official and diplomatic ways, therefore, Gani Jakupi has shown extraordinary results in these few months of his commitment, for which I am very grateful and I have a prayer for everyone that we should think that the people we attack with assumptions let's not forget that they have families and do not deserve such treatment", Gërvalla told the media after the commission.

The deputy of the PDK, Ariana Musliu-Shoshi, has asked the minister several times whether Jakupi is paid that much, and then the clash started with the head of the commission, Arbëreshë Kryeziu-Hyseni - a deputy of the LVV.
"... scratch it as much as you want. You are squirming and not taking it seriously. Is Gani Jakupi paid 7900 euros per month", asked Musliu-Shoshi Gërvalla.
The question was interrupted by the head of the commission on the grounds that it was going off topic, but the PDK MP told her to shut up.
"Today is the discussion about budget allocations, while the MP talked about buildings... let's not forget that this year the budget is being allocated to sign contracts to buy our buildings, unlike when the budget was allocated for contracts for territorial exchange.. Kryeziu-Hyseni said.
Musliu-Shoshi responded by saying that Kryeziu-Hyseni has nothing to do with foreign policy and that she only performs the role of chairperson of the commission.

The PDK proposes two investigative commissions, one for Gani Jakupi and the other for Astri Dehari's samples.
