Gërvalla: PDK in opposition, partnership with LDK, no bargaining with Nisma

Donika Gervalla

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, has stated that they rule out the possibility of a governing coalition with PDK, but said that they could form a partnership with LDK.

She said on "Interaktiv" that PDK should remain in opposition for another four years "as the intensity of misuse of mechanisms has been extreme."

"Our vision of having the maximum to implement reforms has not been desired by the citizen, so you have to find a partner. If we exclude PDK from the partnership, and I am convinced that it should be excluded... Still, PDK should not come to power for another four years. They should stay for another four years because the intensity of the misuse of mechanisms has been extreme," she said.

Gërvalla added that the sovereign's will is for VV to form a partnership.

"It is not a love marriage with the LDK," she added.

And when commenting on the discussions with the Social Democratic Initiative, Gërvalla said that there are no bargains being made, adding that this party cannot seek the position of speaker of parliament with three MPs.

"With Mr. Limaj we discussed a principled approach and a principled cooperation with Mr. Limaj, which means that we have never discussed bargaining, but rather principled cooperation based on principles that we do not violate even with the LDK... A party with 3 MPs cannot seek a Speaker of the Assembly. This is a principled approach. There is no better Speaker of the Assembly than in the hands of the most voted woman in the country," said Gërvalla.

Gërvalla: We have the votes for the Government

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, has stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement has the will to emerge from the institutional crisis, but according to her, the MPs who are not participating in the vote at all are blocking the process.

She stated on Thursday on KTV's "Interaktiv" that Vetëvendosje has the numbers to establish a Government, but added that the opposition is not allowing it to move forward through the constitution of the Assembly.

"I am part of the conversations and I think we have the numbers for the government. Why are they blocking the process here and not allowing us to move forward," she said.

Gërvalla said they are requesting a secret ballot as it is a democratic instrument and part of the procedures.

"Secret voting is part of the procedures and part of the rules of procedure of the Assembly. Secret voting is part of the attempt to unblock... Why is the opposition afraid of its own deputies, why is it afraid that there will be unlistenables? Secret voting is the most democratic instrument. The one who raises his hand and says 'yes' cannot be a blocker. The one who does not vote at all is a blocker," declared Gërvalla.

Gërvalla: The issue of measures goes beyond Kosovo, it is an internal battle within the EU

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, has stated that most European Union countries are in favor of lifting the measures against Kosovo, but she said that this discussion is already taking place within the EU and "there are still voices that are hesitant."

Gërvalla stated on Thursday on KTV's "Interaktiv" that there is a will to lift the measures, but "when we have other influences within the EU, they cannot evaporate as they came."

"We need to see that the issue of measures goes beyond Kosovo, it is an internal battle of influences within the European Union. There are some proposals for the gradual lifting of measures, but the proposals have been discussed for a year and a half... I hesitate to talk about things that have not yet passed the test of their implementation," said Gërvalla.

The acting minister has emphasized that the measures are meaningless and unfair, adding that "a solution must be found."

"How can Kosovo contribute if the powerful EU countries are not reaching out. This is a topic that is being discussed within the EU member states. The measures have become a topic within the EU...", she said.

Gërvalla added that Kosovo has done its job, citing the de-escalation of the situation in the north. According to her, the situation in the north has never been calmer.

During the day, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, announced in Pristina the start of the gradual lifting of the measures. She said that the condition is de-escalation in the north.

Gërvalla also distances himself from Deputy Minister Vokrri's statement on internationals

After the acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, has also distanced herself from the statement of the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Arbër Vokrri, who accused the international community of inciting unrest in the north of the country.

Invited to KTV's "Interaktiv", Gërvalla said that Vokrri is wrong, as what fueled the unrest is Belgrade's politics.

"I know which statement you are talking about, he is a deputy minister, I have not read the full statement, but the title, Vokrri is wrong because there is a clear address of who is stirring up the unrest. It is not even the policy of the rule of law, but the policy of Belgrade... I do not agree with Mr. Vokrri that Orav may have stirred up the unrest, we know exactly who is stirring up the unrest," she said.

On Thursday on KTV's "60 Minutes", Vokrri said that one of the international diplomats is the head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav.

"The international side, I have personally witnessed several situations that have instigated the riots themselves. I am not necessarily saying that they were of very large proportions, but with their statements, with their meetings, they have encouraged exponents associated with the Serbian List to cause riots... They are international diplomats, representatives of international institutions, I have also mentioned Mr. Orav, the head of the EU mission in Kosovo, as one of the instigators of one of the riots. It was after that incident, where a part of the political activists from the north, known for sponsorship by the Serbian state, gathered and caused a riot there, after it all ended, I saw on social networks that the same people had been in a meeting with him a few hours before causing this riot, this is just one of the examples," he said.
