Over 460 euros from the Kosovo budget have been spent on financial support for the defense lawyers of the accused from the Specialized Chambers based in The Hague.
In the Ministry of Justice at the end of last year, four requests of the defense lawyers of those accused of war crimes were reviewed by the Special Court, the Acting General Secretary of this Ministry, Ardian Bajraktari, informed the KP.
He said that all have been approved.
Bajraktari says that the last execution of the tools was done last week.
"The requests have been reviewed and it has been found that they meet the criteria set by law and the administrative instruction and as a result has approved the same and I can now confirm on behalf of the ministry that the execution of funds for the four requests approved by side of the commission. The total amount of executed funds for defense lawyers is 464 thousand 600 euros. "The last execution of the payment took place last week", stressed Bajraktari.

Bajraktari said that requests for payments were mainly made for the activities of defense lawyers for participation in court hearings, counseling and others.
"For the year 2021, the budget is foreseen by the Law on budget allocations and for this year it is a total of 17 million euros", said Bajraktari.
Ardian Bajraktari, who is also the head of the evaluation committee of these requests, said that at the end of last year as a committee they reviewed the four requests reached by the defense of the accused by the Special Court.
Based on the Law on the legal and financial protection of persons who may have been accused by the Special Court, approved by the Kosovo Assembly in 2015, it is stated that "they have the right to request assistance in covering the costs of defense and commitment of independent defenders".
The law guarantees the coverage of lawyer expenses to accused persons.
