The Director for Security and Emergency, in the Municipality of Pristina, Lulëzim Fushtica, has said that the human factor and the infrastructure of sewerage and atmospheric wells are among the causes of floods in the region of the capital.
In an interview on the show "60 Minutes" on KTV, Fushtica said that the situation in the capital after the floods that occurred in the early hours of the morning on Monday, has improved.
"The first factor is the human factor, we have asked for the cooperation of citizens, especially in preserving the environment and not destroying the ecosystem, in this case throwing waste as inert as usual in the course of rivers and ravines ... while on the other hand it is also the investment that the municipality is making to improve the infrastructure of sewerage and atmospheric wells, but we also have an increase in constructions", said Fushtica.
He stated that even last year, until the month of July, there was extreme weather and that the same is happening again this year.
He added that they are working on improving the infrastructure.
"This is one of the situations we had last year as well, rapid downpours which for a short time have a large amount of rain which causes flooding. But without taking this into account, we are also working on improving the infrastructure, a problem that has been passed on by the government, for this reason we have allocated investments to intervene in several points", stated Fushtica.
According to him, on Monday, there were problems in all parts of the capital and they were all avoided by noon.
Fushtica emphasized that there were more than 30 interventions during the day. He stated that the busy traffic made their work difficult.
