Still without operationalizing the main services, the Health Insurance Fund is "immersed" in debt.
Debts that are already waiting to be paid amount to 2.6 million euros. All these debts are for the treatment of patients outside public institutions, for diseases that are not treated in Kosovo.
As KOHA has learned, the invoices and claims of the hospitals exceed several times the value of 2.6 million euros. A source has said that the debt is between 10 and 15 million euros, but the Fund has clarified that these requests have not yet been confirmed by the Financial Consolidation Commission, so the total value is not known.
Most patients who are not treated in Kosovo find treatment in Turkish hospitals.
Last week KOHA met two representatives of a hospital. They were received by the officials of the Health Insurance Fund. Before entering the facility, they told the television that "they hope that the number of Kosovar patients treated in their hospital will increase."

But the Fund, through a written answer, said that these officials of this hospital have come to demand the debts.
For 12 patients, within one year, Kosovo owes about 300 thousand euros to this hospital.
"With the decisions of the Executive Board for TMJIShP, the obligations are about 2.6 million euros. If it is about the hospital in question, 12 patients have been treated, while the financial obligations to them are €282,850.0", says the response of the Health Insurance Fund.
Legally, the Health Insurance Fund cannot choose the hospitals it pays. This is what patients do. This argument, according to this institution, is sufficient to prove that they can expect every representative of the private hospital in the meeting.
"Fund officials do not select the institutions where patients will be treated. It is the patients who choose! Therefore, there is no reason to refuse an invitation for an official meeting with any of the health institutions. It is not in the Fund's policy to close or refuse", the Fund's response continues.

After the meeting, the representatives of the private hospital addressed an office that mediates the sending of patients to Turkey.
Such offices are numerous. The Minister of Health, Rifat Latifi, met with representatives of one of them last month.
