Finland has confirmed its support for Kosovo in the process of visa liberalization and membership in Interpol
This was said today by the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Paula Risikko, during the meeting with her Kosovar counterpart, Kadri Veseli.
Both emphasized the need for deepening cooperation between Kosovo and Finland, especially in the field of economy and education.
Veseli, accompanied by the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Aida Derguti, spoke with special emphasis on the visa liberalization process for Kosovo. According to the communiqué from the Assembly, he asked for the support of Finland as well so that the decision to remove visas is taken as soon as possible within this year and that the citizens of Kosovo be able to move freely like all other peoples in Europe.
"We have met the criteria set by the EU for this process. We are continuously making progress in many areas. With great dedication we are working on many reforms that accelerate the European agenda. Our citizens do not deserve to continue to be the only ones in the isolated Balkans", he emphasized.
Veseli asked Finland to support Kosovo for membership in Interpol, as a very important step in the fight against organized crime and terrorism.
Speaking about the process of the final phase of the dialogue with Serbia, Veseli expressed Kosovo's readiness for the dialogue to continue and for an agreement to be reached between the two countries as soon as possible, which would finally normalize relations, with mutual recognition and cooperation with all other countries in the Balkans on the European agenda.
On the other hand, Risikko emphasized that Finland is interested in supporting Kosovo in the field of economy and education
