Some families in Ferizaj who have adults with disabilities are facing severe economic conditions. Social assistance was also cut off for them recently, on the grounds that disabled people enjoy a disability pension in the amount of 150 euros.
Dozens of adults with disabilities in Ferizaj continue to complain that the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare cut off social assistance to their families and children a few months ago.
They say that requests for social assistance are being rejected by local and central institutions on the grounds that they enjoy a right to disability retirement as "paraplegic and tetraplegic" persons.
Agron Rrahmani has said that with the disability pension he is not even able to provide medicine for himself and his family members.
"My concern is that they have stopped social assistance for children, we are disabled people. Since we raised that child, the state seems to help us, but it didn't stop us from social security like that", said Rrahmani.
According to Rrahmani, the requests of their family members for social assistance have been rejected by the local and central institutions.
"It's a problem for us because with the extra money we get, it costs me medicine, at the doctor, very expensive, we can't make it with this pension we get", said Rrahmani.
Even Ekrem Karaliti says that with 150 euros as pension aid, he cannot ensure the survival of his children and family.

"We, as disabled people, have a very difficult life, let them understand how difficult it is to carry a child, but how difficult it is for us who are in wheelchairs to live and raise a family and children, let them understand", he said.
The Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers says that it has compared the double payments that are made by the social and pension schemes and in this case it has resulted in the removal of these families that benefit from paraplegic and tetraplegic pensions.
This ministry emphasizes that it is currently supplementing and amending some by-laws of the social assistance scheme in order to regulate the correct determination of the rights to benefit from one or more schemes.
