Diskutumet s’përfunduan me marrëveshje.
"I keep saying it, PDK's request is the approval of the law in two readings, the final approval of the law. Then, the Democratic Party of Kosovo is ready on the same day, in the next session, to talk and find a solution for the president and to give votes for the president," he said after the meeting he had on Saturday with the leader of Vetëvendosje and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Hamza said that talks with Kurti have concluded, while expressing optimism that there is still a possibility of reaching an agreement.
"We have concluded the talks. There are still a few days in which we have the opportunity to reach an agreement. I don't know if the agreement will happen. But this is our request and it has nothing to do with the need for PDK. The law goes beyond the needs of PDK and has to do with another issue," he said.
The MP of this entity, Blerta Deliu, stated during the day that if the Parliament approves the draft law on Special in two readings, "PDK will make its 22 votes available for the election of the president." She said that the presidential candidate should be a figure who can bring together political forces and avoid new parliamentary elections, but did not mention any specific name.
Kurti's meeting with Hamza lasted about two and a half hours in the afternoon. They met again on Friday. The topics of discussion were the issue of the Law on the Special Court and that of the president.
Last week, the Constitutional Court ruled that the constitutional deadline for electing the president ends on October 6. It justified the decision by finding that the Assembly was constituted beyond the constitutional 30-day deadline, and that this deadline has started to run into the 60-day deadline for electing the president.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo's proposal to amend the Law on the Special Court contains provisions that aim to limit the subject matter, both temporal and territorial mandate of this court based in The Hague.
PDK had refused meetings with Vetëvendosje before the Special Court's verdict against four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. This party had also brought the issue of the constitution and formation of the Government to the Constitutional Court, but this institution considered them not unconstitutional.
The PDK has requested that the Parliament amend the Law on the Special Court, limiting its mandate, after the sentencing of Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison each, Kadri Veseli to 18 and Rexhep Selim to 13. They were convicted on charges of war crimes. Through the legal changes in the Democratic Party, they aim to limit the mandate of the Special Court to dealing with the crimes alleged in the Dick Marty report, as well as to establish international monitoring of its work. Meanwhile, for the war crimes, for which the four former KLA leaders were convicted, the proposed draft law foresees that they be tried in Kosovo.
The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization has warned of escalation of actions if an agreement is not reached by political parties on amending the Law on the Special Court on Sunday.
After the end of the meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and PDK leader Bedri Hamza, the KLA's OVL called for a protest in front of the Parliament, while threatening that if there is no movement on Sunday, there will be an escalation of actions from Monday.
The veterans' organization has accused Kurti of "political calculations" and "political and procedural games."
