Political parties must submit their lists of candidates for deputies to the Central Election Commission on Tuesday.
The CEC has warned that all candidates who intend to run in the June 7 elections for the Assembly of Kosovo will undergo the institutional verification process.

Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support ContributeThrough this process, the Central Election Commission will check whether candidates for deputies meet the legal criteria for participation in the elections, in accordance with the Law on General Elections, namely Article 30 thereof.
"In the context of fulfilling legal obligations related to the suitability/ability of candidates for certification, the Central Election Commission will send verification requests to relevant institutions, along with the list of candidates who intend to be certified for participation in the elections, in order to assess whether they are in compliance with Article 30 of the Law on General Elections. This is a practice followed by the CEC in past election processes," said CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi.
According to the Law on General Elections, a person cannot be certified as a candidate if he or she is: an official with special status under the law in force for Public Officials, has been convicted in the last three years by a final court decision for a criminal offense, and has failed to pay the fine imposed by the ECAP or the CEC.
The candidate verification process is expected to take several days.
"Among the institutions from which the CEC will request verification of candidates is the Kosovo Judicial Council. Article 30 of the Law on General Elections states that a candidate cannot be a person if "he has been convicted in the last 3 years by a final court decision for a criminal offense, with one or more years of effective imprisonment, therefore, to implement this legal criterion, the CEC will request from the KJC the verification of the list of candidates to determine whether any of them violates this restriction," said Elezi.
LVV announced on May 8 that it will also compete in these elections together with the Guxo party, Alternativa and the Albanian Democratic Christian Party, with whom it also competed in the last elections.
The leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, has introduced Krenare Çerkini as a new member, who will be part of the list for MPs, as well as Adelina Tërshani.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo rejected Fatmir Limaj's return to the party, but during this time it has presented several accessions.
The chairman, Bedri Hamza, announced on Tuesday that Colonel Skender Hoxha has joined the PDK and will be a candidate for deputy.
The PDK list will also include former VV MP Aida Dërguti.
New names on this party's list will include Naim Telaku, Shemsi Jashari and Miftar Kurti.
The LDK list will be led by former president Vjosa Osmani.
This party has announced that it has signed a pre-election agreement with the Justice Party and the National Front for these elections as well.
The agreement was signed by President Lumir Abdixhiku, with the LDK announcing that the Justice Party will compete on the list with Ferid Agani, while the National Front will compete with Alban Hoti.
The LDK list for female MPs will include: Jeta Statovcit and Albena Reshitaj, former MPs of the LVV parliamentary group.
The list will also include Bardhyl Hasanpapaj, Visar Xani, Besim Kodra, Brikena Muharremi, Kreshnik Çollaku and Lulzim Zeneli.
And after it was reported that Abdixhiku left him out of the top 10, former Prime Minister Avdulla Hoti wrote on social media that the only number that matters is the number of the Democratic League of Kosovo.
The main movement in the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is the mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini, who will be the bearer of this party's electoral list and candidate for prime minister.
The leader of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, has made several announcements about new approaches such as: Agron Kajtazi, Bajram Mulaj and Avni Arifi.
The novelty in these elections is the decision of the Social Democratic Party to participate in them.
Chairman Dardan Molliqaj has said that PSD is competing to "provide the country with an opposition."
The new name of this party is Florin Krasniqi, one of the former old and very important activists of LVV.
