The informal economy and corruption have been assessed as serious threats to the country by the director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, Behar Xhema.
"The Financial Intelligence Unit is an independent central national institution, responsible for research, analysis and dissemination of information and intelligence reports in order to combat and prevent money laundering, terrorist financing and financial crimes in general. Given that corruption at the country level, based on the assessments of national risks carried out in 2013 and 2020, both approved by the Government of Kosovo, show that Kosovo is at the level identified in this assessment as serious threats to the country are the economy informality and corruption", he said at the table "The role of the integrity of institutions, integrity plans, and anti-corruption policies", organized by the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (APK), on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day
The director of the APK, Yll Buleshkaj, said that in the coming days, the application for reporting corruption will be launched, in which officials and citizens can report various violations.
"The challenges they face are great, but your dedication will contribute to the prevention of corruption, in order to make progress as we have international and local appreciation. We must raise the standard of our work. In the coming days, we will also launch several very important products, one of which is the launch of the corruption reporting application, which will allow us as an agency to receive reports from officials 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. and citizens who are witnesses of various violations," he said.
Behar Rushiti from the Democracy Plus organization, added that digitization is one of the means of preventing corruption.
"Digitalization is always one of the means of preventing corruption, sometimes there are efforts, especially in public institutions, which offer services such as permits, licenses, which sometimes even refuse to simplify the procedures or digitize the procedures, to avoid contact with between the recipient of the service and the provider of the service, sometimes also for corrupt reasons, because digitalization avoids physical contact and physical presence, and the possibility that over the months you have corrupted me or judged on the side, maybe I get a permit or license type service", added Rushiti. /KP
