Two weeks deadline for subsidizing the insulation of houses

In order to reduce electricity costs, the public call "Implementation of energy efficiency measures for individual residential houses" was launched on Monday, for the second time. 
The purpose of this call, according to the Kosovo Fund for Energy Efficiency, is to improve the living conditions of citizens in terms of energy efficiency, as well as to reduce electricity bills.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called on citizens to apply for subsidies, declaring during the launch of the call that "who applies first, is served first".

"One of the measures most welcomed by the citizens last year, and with the biggest positive impact in the long term, is exactly what we are launching today, measures for energy efficiency in individual homes... This time the call is expected to will be open for two weeks, but given the positive experience of families and the great interest in this call, I invite you all to apply as soon as possible, because whoever applies first is first served... This time we aim to "We subsidize another 1 families to insulate their homes," Kurti emphasized. 

He said that the package is part of the emergency support of the European Union (EU), from which Kosovo has benefited 75 million euros. Kurti qualified this amount as the highest per capita in the region.

"When we designed this package, we made sure that the benefits were immediate, but not short-term. The measures are designed to improve the quality of life and reduce energy costs for our families and businesses", he emphasized, as he added that 2.100 families with over 12 members have benefited from the first call, in a total value of subsidy of 7.9 million euros. "This time we intend to subsidize another 1.300 families to insulate their homes", said Kurti.

The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, said that this scheme should be continued in the future.

"In the coming years, the plan is to continue this scheme through a more self-sustainable financing system in which the Fund is working with the support of partners to develop and choose a financing model," Rizvanolli emphasized.

Driton Hetemi, managing director of the Kosovo Fund for Energy Efficiency, has spoken about the direct impact this measure will have on electricity bills.

"In order to illustrate the impact of the energy efficiency measures from the first public call, our team of engineers has done a preliminary analysis and it turns out that from all the measures implemented by those houses we have isolated about 600 thousand square meters of wall surfaces exterior, we have done 90 thousand square kilometers of roof surfaces and replaced about 13 thousand square meters of windows and exterior doors. Through these measures, it is expected that the energy consumption per square meter per year will be reduced from 155 kilowatt hours to about 111 kilowatt hours for these houses", he emphasized.
At the launch of the second call for the implementation of energy efficiency measures for individual residential houses, Alessandro Bianciardi, from the EU Office in Kosovo, was also present, who spoke about the importance of this measure.

The application for this measure is expected to start from Tuesday at 09:00 and is expected to last two weeks.
