The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called the start of disconnecting businesses that have not reached an agreement for electricity supply irresponsible, as it said that many businesses are still awaiting court decisions and the establishment of new institutions.

According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the shutdown of businesses from today, August 16, risks laying off workers and increasing consumer prices.

"This arbitrary and irresponsible action is increasing the consumption prices of two million citizens of the country and is risking the dismissal of at least 22 thousand workers, severely affecting their families, the domestic economy and social stability in the country," the reaction states.

The Chamber added that the consequences will be "dramatic", warning of the closure of business activities, loss of domestic production, increased imports, rising prices and further impoverishment of citizens.
