The Judicial Council meeting where the decision on the resignations of Serbian judges was expected fails

Due to the lack of a quorum, the meeting of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) failed to be held.

Another item on the agenda was the review of the request of the acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, for the resignations of Serbian judges who were deposed at the end of 2022, as well as the notification of the judges to withdraw their resignations. 

KJC Chairman Rrustem Thaqi said that four of the members who were absent justified their absence via email, while member Ivana Milenkovic did not give a reason for her absence. 

"I have been informed that 4 of them will not participate in the meeting... Not one of the members has submitted a request for leave. Such behavior cannot be allowed. Due to the lack of a quorum, this meeting cannot be held," Thaqi said.

More than a month ago, Acting President Albulena Haxhiu wrote to the KJC, requesting that an epilogue be given to the resignations of Serb judges in the north.

Then the prosecutors and judges filed a request asking them to withdraw their resignation.

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council rejected their requests and Haxhiu decreed their resignations from the system.
Prosecutors, judges, police officers, and mayors in the north resigned at the end of 2022, as a sign of revolt against developments in this part of Kosovo.

While the resignations of the police officers were accepted, those of the prosecutors and judges were left pending until now.
