PDK MPs gather again in Parliament, await constitution

Deputetët e Partisë Demokratike të Kosovës do të jenë sërish në sallën e Kuvendit të Kosovës, në vazhdën e kërkesës për vazhdim të seancës konstituive të legjislaturës së 11-të.

Deputetët e kësaj partie bashkë me të Aleancës janë mbledhur çdo 48 orë në Kuvend që nga fillimi i gushtit kur kryetari i Vetëvendosjes, Albin Kurti, kërkoi shtyrjen e seancës me arsyetimin për kohë shtesë për marrëveshje me partitë politike për presidentin.

PDK-ja ka kërkuar nga kryesuesi i seancës konstituive, Avni Dehari, edhe për sot (e shtunë) që të thërrasë vazhdimin e seancës.

“PDK i ka dërguar sërish kërkesë kryesuesit të seancës konstituive sipas moshës, z. Avni Dehari, që ta thërrasë vazhdimin e seancës në përputhje me Kushtetutën, aktgjykimet e Gjykatës Kushtetuese dhe Rregulloren e Kuvendit”, thuhet në njoftimin që PDK-ja e ka përcjellë te mediat të premten.

Deputetët e PDK-së do të qëndrojnë në sallë me fillim prej orës 11:00.

So far, the deputies have been invited twice to constitute the legislature resulting from the June 7 elections. The deputies have taken the oath, but at the point on the agenda to propose the speaker of parliament, the leader of the winning party, Albin Kurti, took the floor and justified his refusal to make the proposal by the fact that there is still no agreement with the political parties on the president. And, according to him, the Assembly cannot be constituted without this agreement, since otherwise the 60-day deadline for electing the president would be used up and new early elections would be imposed.

The Vetëvendosje Movement, together with its allies from the communities, has enough votes to constitute the Assembly and also to vote for the Government. However, to be elected president, at least 80 MPs are required to vote in the first two rounds. If the election cannot be held within 60 days, the Assembly is dissolved and new early elections are announced.

The parties have not come close to breaking the political deadlock for almost two years. Kosovo has been in a continuous cycle of crises since the February 2025 elections. First, there were troubles with the constitution, and then the failure to form a government led to elections in December. After them, there was a constitution, but there was no solution for the new president. On June 7, new elections followed.
