The American State Department has said that the only option for Kosovo and Serbia towards European integration is the normalization of relations.
DASH has said that the USA does not change its position regarding the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, it supports the dialogue facilitated by the European Union as a way to achieve a normalized, peaceful and productive relationship between the two states.
"The future of both countries is in the European institutions; normalizing their relations through the EU-facilitated process is the only way forward. We expect that Kosovo and Serbia will implement all their commitments from the dialogue, fully and without delay or preconditions", said a DASH spokesperson for TIME.
The long-term political goal of the USA is "eventual mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia", he said further.
The reaction from the USA comes after the uproar made by the statement made by the American ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, that he does not think that Serbia should recognize Kosovo in order to enter the European Union.
But, that there is no membership without normalization of relations with Kosovo, the European Union said a day earlier. Germany also supported this.
