The acting Minister of Regional Development, Fikrim Damka, and the former Secretary General of this institution, Besim Kamberaj, have pleaded not guilty in the session held at the Basic Court of Pristina.
They are facing an indictment from the Special Prosecution for abuse of official duty, which they contested during their appearance before the trial panel.
After reading the indictment, Judge Kujtim Krasniqi instructed the parties that they could file an appeal against the indictment within 30 days.
The Special Prosecution Office has filed an indictment against Damka and the acting secretary of the Ministry of Regional Development, Besim Kamberaj, for “abuse of official position.” According to the indictment, they are suspected of having exceeded their legal powers from August 16, 2021 to March 24, 2022 in order to obtain material benefits for two NGOs – “Germin” and “Caritas Zviceran.”
