Cakolli: LDK does not have the luxury of waiting

Eugen Cakolli from the Democratic Institute of Kosovo said that the Democratic League of Kosovo, and especially its leader, Lumir Abdixhiku, does not have the luxury of waiting for an agreement with the Vetëvendosje Movement.

According to Cakolli, even if LVV does not reach an agreement at all, it will not be penalized as much electorally as LDK. Meanwhile, he called optimistic expectations for an agreement between these two political parties, two days before the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, unrealistic.

"Such an agreement "in time" - before the constitutive session - was not reached even after the 2019 elections. Back then, both parties needed each other much more, their union was widely seen as the "coalition of hope", while in the elections they were separated by less than 2%. Let alone now, when LVV has almost three times the votes and mandates of LDK", Cakolli wrote, among other things, on Facebook.

The leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, and the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, discussed for about three hours on Tuesday night in an attempt to reach an agreement on the formation of institutions, but the meeting resulted in no agreement.

After the meeting, Kurti stated that there is a willingness and zeal for these two parties to work together, but according to him, an agreement is required that respects the election result. Meanwhile, Abdixhiku said that a comprehensive agreement is needed for all three positions: Assembly, Government and Presidency.
