Buja: Kurti did not believe in the declaration of independence, but wants to be Prime Minister of Kosovo

Ram Buja

Ramë Buja, a member of Parliament in the legislature when Kosovo's independence was declared, has stated that he is It's strange how the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, aims to be prime minister when he doesn't believe in statehood.

For the special edition on KTV, Buja stated that Kurti did not believe in the Rambouillet conference, did not believe in Martti Ahtisaari's plan, and did not recognize the symbols of Kosovo.

Regarding Ahtisaari's plan, Buja said it was the best for the time.

"There were no better opportunities. She opened the door to realize what we wanted to do, the declaration of independence. But, there were nuts that were thrown at us, but the door was left half open for us to open it ourselves and the declaration on February 17... She opposed Rambouillet. She opposed Ahtisaari. She did not believe in the declaration of independence, she did not respect the symbols of these... yet she willingly accepts to be the prime minister of this republic. Let him be the one who does good for this country, and all is forgiven. But, what was done in four years is questionable," said Buja.

Buja said that during Kurti's government, friendship with the United States was offended, adding that Kurti "has never seen the White House."

"Anyone who had eyes and ears could see that friendship with the US was denied and with the statement that Secretary of State Blinken is naive, and not going to the White House... This has been missing and I am very sorry that this is happening. Our Prime Minister has never seen the White House. These are serious," Buja further stated.

The former Kosovo Liberation Army fighter has said that Kosovo is most at risk with the agreement on the Association of Serb-majority municipalities. According to him, the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex "have left a lot of black spots for Kosovo."

"The association accepted in Brussels is an association that has executive rights, has autonomy. Whoever is prime minister tomorrow will have this on the table. It is difficult for Kosovo, someone could say that the border is at the Ibri. This is a very difficult thing for Kosovo and the price is very high and heavy. These negotiations are weightless and illogical. There was an opportunity to sympathetically create the Association as we have the Association of Albanian Municipalities," he said.
