Great Britain will send some of the main battle tanks to Ukraine, along with additional artillery support, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced. The tanks that are expected to be sent to Ukraine, for protection from the Russian invasion, were also placed in Kosovo with the intervention of NATO.
As a spokesman for the British Prime Minister announced, on Saturday in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Sunaku "highlighted Great Britain's ambitions to intensify support for Ukraine, through the provision of 'Challenger 2' tanks and additional artillery systems".
"Reuters" writes that Britain has announced earlier that it will coordinate with Germany, France and the United States to provide defense vehicles to Ukraine.
Some tanks are expected to be delivered soon, for the first time by a Western army, "SkyNews" wrote.
Russia's embassy in London said the decision dragged out the confrontations, led to more casualties, including civilians, and was evidence of London's "clear growing involvement in the conflict".
"As for the 'Challenger 2' tanks, they are unlikely to help the Ukrainian Army regain ground on the battlefield, but they will become a major target for Russian artillery," the Russian Embassy said, according to comments cited by the agency. Russian news agency "TASS".
