CBK with explanatory video: The regulation does not limit the exchange activity of any currency

The Central Bank of Kosovo has released an explanatory video regarding the new Regulation for cash operations, which came into effect on February 1.

In the explanatory video published on Facebook, CBK has shown what the Regulation provides.

"The regulation foresees the procedures for handling and withdrawing from circulation euro banknotes and coins and other currencies suspected to be counterfeit. The regulation in question has also defined the criteria for the exchange of damaged euro banknotes and coins, as well as the conditions for cash payment transactions. This Regulation does not prohibit or limit the acceptance of funds in bank accounts in Euro in licensed banks, nor does it limit the exchange activity of any currency carried out by banking or non-banking financial institutions licensed by the CBK. Therefore, all individuals have access to bank accounts and can accept funds in their accounts in Euro, through various legal channels", said the CBK.

The CBK has said that all citizens who have accounts in Euro, in licensed banks in Kosovo, can use it to receive funds from other countries. And those who do not have an account, he said that they can open it in any bank and according to the CBK, vulnerable groups and social schemes do not pay a fee for opening or maintenance.

"Only in the four northern municipalities, there are four bank branches, three microfinance (lending) institutions, as well as over 15 non-bank financial institutions for payments and exchange. The number of branches and offices of financial institutions operating in that area is increasing, as financial inclusion is the objective of the CBK. In order to provide supplementary information, in a simple and comprehensible manner to the citizens of Kosovo, the CBK has launched the TOLL-FREE line 0800 222-55. This line is dedicated to citizens from the Serbian community who live in our country and need to be informed correctly and concretely", says the CBK.
