Bislimi for "Ibër-Lepenci": We have evidence of communications that took place before and possibly after the attack

Besnik Bislimi

Deputy Prime Minister Bisnik Bislimi has said that the communications that took place before and possibly after the explosion have evidence of the terrorist attack in "Ibër-Lepenc", but he did not provide other details.

In an interview for "Voice of America", Bislimi said that it is illogical that at this stage the main address to which the crime is attributed becomes part of the crime investigation, alluding to Serbia.

"It is difficult to find evidence at the crime scene. We have evidence of the communications that took place before and perhaps after the attack, which then require a different nature of forensics", stated Bislimi.

The Deputy Prime Minister ruled out any possibility of Serbia becoming a part of the investigation, as he added that it should be analyzed what was the primary purpose of the terrorist attack.

"We must take care that the terrorist attack that happened in Ibër-Lepenc does not become a test of Kosovo's ability to prove the perpetrator of the crime and Serbia's ability to commit the perfect crime. All the information we have leads to one address and it would be illogical to now consider whether there is sufficient evidence or not. It must be analyzed what was the primary purpose of this attack, was it to damage the canal or was the intention to destroy it in its entirety and then disable the supply of water, electricity and communications, or was the purpose to send a signal that Serbia still has power to destabilize Kosovo and increase their negotiating position in Brussels", Bislimi emphasized.

On November 29, an attack with 15 kilograms of explosives caused a huge explosion in the Ibër-Lepenci canal, for which the Kosovo institutions directly blamed Serbia. Internationals have also condemned the attack, demanding that the perpetrators be brought to justice.

Two Serbs are still in custody for the explosion.

Before the explosion in the water channel, two more incidents with explosive devices were recorded in the north of Kosovo.

The Ibër-Lepenc Canal supplies water from Lake Ujman to the entire north of Kosovo, the regions of Mitrovica, Pristina and its surroundings, as well as the Kosovo Energy Corporation for cooling its thermal power plants.
