The EU and the Government do not indicate whether there will be a tripartite meeting on Tuesday in Brussels

The Government of Kosovo has not shared details about the meeting that will be held on Tuesday in Brussels. The European Union revealed the topic of discussions at the level of chief negotiators, but its officials did not confirm whether there will be a trilateral meeting. The chief negotiator of the Serbian side, Petar Petkovic, is not looking forward to the meeting, as the Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly said that "dialogue is dead"

Kosovo and Serbia will continue discussions at the level of chief negotiators in Brussels on Tuesday. 

The development of the talks on September 17 was confirmed on Monday by the spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, while in a press conference he revealed the agenda of the meeting. 

"I can confirm that the next meeting at the level of chief negotiators will be held tomorrow in Brussels. The agenda is clear: the way forward in the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement and of course the discussions in the issues that are affecting the normalization between Kosovo and Serbia", said Stano.

However, he has not indicated whether there will be a meeting between the two negotiators, Besnik Bislimi of Kosovo and Petar Petkovic of Serbia, or whether they will meet only with the emissary Lajcak. They don't even know about such a thing in the Government of Kosovo. And in a written response, the European Union said that Tuesday's meeting is an opportunity for the parties to express their commitment to the dialogue process.

"The way forward for both sides is to reaffirm their constructive engagement in the normalization process. The first opportunity for this re-engagement is the next meeting of the chief negotiators in Brussels on September 17", says the response of the EU spokesperson, Peter Stano.

However, they do not have such expectations either in Kosovo or in Serbia. Petar Petkovic, head of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, said that he does not expect anything from the September 17 meeting. 

"We will fight, we will express our positions, we will emphasize what is necessary and we will come up with a compromise solution. But the other side needs to be ready for talks as well", he said in a conversation with TV "Informer" on Monday.

And while the Government of Kosovo has not shared details about the meeting in Brussels, Speaker Glauk Konjufca is convinced that the dialogue is dead. 

"I have said with this structure, I have assessed that the dialogue is already dead. Let's see what is happening in 2025, we have nothing to talk about in 2024", he said.

On Friday last week, Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi stated that Serbia has rejected the tripartite meeting. According to him, Serbia has tried to "impose agenda items, intended mainly for internal political consumption" in this meeting.

"For the next meeting of the dialogue process in Brussels on September 17, Kosovo has accepted the trilateral meeting according to the agenda set by the mediator. Unfortunately, Serbia has rejected such a meeting, trying to impose agenda items, mainly intended for internal political consumption", Bislimi wrote, while denying the news that he rejected the meeting with Petkovic, published in a Serbian medium. 

Bislim's claims regarding Serbia's rejection have not been confirmed or rejected by the European Union.

Chief negotiators Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petkoviqi met for the last time at the beginning of July. The meeting between them took place after the one that the EU emissary, Miroslav Lajcak, held separately with them.
After the tripartite meeting, Lajcak stated that with Bislim and Petkovic they have agreed on a series of steps to follow, without sharing any other details.

Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi stated that the Serbian side was only interested in one point of the basic agreement, that of establishing the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority. The insistence on the establishment of the Association was also confirmed by the chief negotiator of Serbia, Petar Petkovic.
