Mazllum Baraliu, professor of constitutional law, said that the Vetëvendosje Movement and the current government are "in hibernation" regarding actions following the Special Court's verdict.
On September 16, the Special Chamber sentenced the four leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi, to 81 years in prison.
In "tre8tre" on KTV, Baraliu said that all parties should urgently come together and remove the conditions against each other. According to him, setting conditions for the president and linking it to the vote on the amendments to the Special Law is a mistake and a reckless action by the Democratic Party of Kosovo. And according to him, the Vetëvendosje government is also making mistakes.
"This is irrational behavior. A blow to its own knee. PDK because we all have this law, the issue of preparing for the Appeal for our four there, urgently, and we should not set conditions. Such capricious behavior that we don't want to do this and that later, as exponents of this party declared...," he said of PDK, continuing with criticism of VV. "They are keeping quiet as if they are in the winter sleep of a northern bear. How is this possible? No, they are saying 'we will handle it carefully'. What do you have to handle? The deadline is 30 days to prepare the appeal, but do it in three hours.... We have offered lawyers to do it immediately because it doesn't take much work... They are in the sleep of a northern bear. It is regrettable because they are continuing the game as if nothing has happened. Our state foundations are being jeopardized," he said.
The PDK has submitted proposals to the Parliament and the Government for amending this law, aiming to transfer cases not related to organ trafficking charges to Kosovo for other levels of trial.
