"The reasons we oppose this decision is because here in Kîçeve, as you can see, it is an industrial zone, originally an area for the development of businesses. On the air line, we also have the Blinajë park, a rare park that belongs to Kosovo. And the villages and habitable houses are very close to the part where the landfill is planned to be located, then I believe that the chemical, biological, etc. consequences also follow. We are also close to the airport 1500 meters away by air, it is not far away", said Ymer Torshupa, a citizen.

The representative of Qylage village, Hyzer Bytyqi, also spoke against the landfill.

"We have a legal infrastructure which means that it enables us to take care of the environment in which we live and we, as residents of the surrounding villages, are against this landfill, which, as is known, causes many health problems and endangers public health without a doubt," he said. .

The expert in geology, Fidaim Sahiti, who is also a resident of the village of Poturoc, says that the location for the construction of the landfill does not meet the spatial, geological and environmental conditions.

"What is claimed now, that it is thought to build such a landfill that always produces pollution, starting from the underground water, stinks. Another issue that is very important and I don't know if it has been analyzed or not, when we have the airport very close and there can be a large gathering of birds, which can gather and can prevent the adequate flight of airplanes", he said. Sahiti.

Armend Grajqevci, an assemblyman from the ranks of the LDK in the municipality of Lipjan, said that this decision of the ministry was taken without the consent of the municipality.

According to him, residents and the municipality have complained several times to the Ministry, but without success.

"Otherwise, I think it is also a political decision, for the reason that the prime minister of the country is trying to make a bad policy, and I think that the only gift he gave  made to Lipjan during this term is this dump of bërlok in this area so beautiful for our country", declared Grajçevci.

Against this decision, the residents of this area started an initiative to collect signatures for a petition a few days ago.

According to the residents, the initiative has been joined by 6 other villages that share the same opinion with them.

They say that if the petition is not taken into account, protests will be organized.

The decision to build this landfill was made at the end of last year, while MMPHI officials did not respond to KOHA's questions about whether residents' complaints will be taken into account./Florinda Abazi
