Bajra: Economics must be separated from politics eventually

Emanuel Bajra, financial expert, has said that in a few years the Sovereign Fund can be established. In the show "Tonight with Rronin" he said that there is an attempt to introduce Kosovo to the global markets.

Bajra explained the function and purpose of the Fund in the future.

"The idea is to have a financial institution, an investor to create new economic values on behalf of the state of Kosovo. We have economic and human resources, we have corporations that need to recover. The Sovereign Fund will create opportunities for Kosovo to improve the main arteries of how the future economy works".

He emphasized that work must be done in an institutional sense so that the Fund is suitable for investors.

Tutje clarified that the Sovereign Fund will be directly linked to the country's economy and that it will not go through politics.

"The ambition is for Kosovo to appear in global markets. We have to pave the way for the future".

Bajra said that in the previous governments there was no political will to create this fund.

"There was no political will. I met Haradinaj, Thaçi, I opened the idea and discussed it, there was no will. The need for radical change is being supported", he said.

Meanwhile, he talked about the idea of the Kosovo stock exchange. He has stated that it should be started immediately with the creation of the law for the Kosovo Stock Exchange.

"With the passing of the law, we must start work on the creation of the Law on the Kosovo Stock Exchange and the Law on the capital market. The stock exchange will be a separate entity, it will be a financial company. The idea is that if we have 20 thousand companies in Kosovo, they should approach the Kosovo Stock Exchange and start exchanging ideas, plans and capital there. The idea with the stock exchange is for us to perfect our market".

"I think that within 2-3 years the fund will be established, within 5 years the scholarship. The idea is to implement within a decade".

Bajra has stated that in Kosovo the economy must be finally separated from politics.

"In Kosovo, it is a matter of perception and political interference in public money, why we have remained poor, still in transition. We must once and for all separate commercialism, economics from politics, give the economy a boost, make the economic machinery of the country independent, and it starts with the Central Bank of Kosovo".
