'Avonet' requests from the Year of Ramadan to increase the number of tests in IKSHPK

The AVONET NGO network says that it is monitoring the situation created after the pandemic at the country level, with special emphasis on the importance of adequate measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which, according to Avonet, means increasing preventive measures and other institutional actions, where it is evident that adequate and more favorable measures in this direction have been taken by local institutions than central ones.

"Although the municipalities have lacked basic support, such as masks and gloves from the Ministry of Health, and this lack of support continues, when we are already in the fourth week since the first cases of Covid-19 were recorded in our country", it is said in reaction.

According to Avonet, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, specifically the Ministry of Health, is late in preparing the preventive measures and also in the tests.

"Avonet is concerned about continuing to see that the IKSHPK is not managing to increase the number of suspected tests and this creates a concern not only for families who may potentially be infected, but also for every citizen, all this it is a consequence of the poor management of the Government of Kosovo, specifically the Ministry of Health. In addition to the citizens' panic about the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the lack of tests remains among the main concerns. Therefore, such a continuation creates the possibility that this situation will have a long life and create serious situations in the country, both in terms of health and the economic one", says the reaction.

Avonet emphasizes that the Laboratory of Molecular Microbiology at IKSHPK until 06.04.2020 has tested a total of 2.093 suspicious samples for the SARS-CoV-2 virus and of these, a total of 165 cases with 3 cases of death, which had other accompanying diseases.

"We ask the minister Mr. The year, specifically from Mr. IKSHPK's Ramadan to increase the number of tests and to finish as soon as possible the tests of the centers that are potentially with the largest number of infected, also to start with disinfection in all public space and public and collective facilities, because it is one of the preventive measures. Also, IKSHPK officials should be spared from statements in cases where they give weeks when we can have the peak growth of the virus, which are having negative effects by creating panic among citizens", concludes the reaction.
