"With this balance of forces, I do not believe that even after the new elections there will be any results that will essentially change the situation," Koci declared.

Lawyer Arianit Koci has expressed his willingness to be Glauk Konjufca's opponent for the post of president of Kosovo, saying that he is taking this step to avoid the institutional blockade and the possibility of new elections.

Through a Facebook post on Thursday, Koci stressed that the country should not remain constantly in a cycle of elections and political blockades.

He wrote that, even though he knows that the chances of being elected are small, he is willing to run in order to create the possibility of two candidates for the election of president and to unblock the process.

"Kosovo cannot remain in a continuous cycle of elections and blockades. I know it is unlikely, but to avoid new elections and the blockage of institutions, I am offering myself as an opposing candidate to Glauk Konjufca," Koci wrote.

According to him, even if the country goes to new elections, it is not certain that the political outcome will change significantly.

"With this balance of forces, I do not believe that even after new elections there will be any results that will essentially change the situation," he added.

Koci announced that 30 signatures of MPs are needed to formalize the candidacy for president and called on them, both from the majority and the opposition, to provide their signatures to fulfill the condition of two candidates in the presidential election process.

He emphasized that he is taking this step with full awareness, even though it may have personal consequences for him.

"I have not contacted anyone to ask for their vote. I am not even calling them. I am taking this step as a citizen who does not want to see his country in a bad light," Koci wrote at the end.

Parliament Speaker Albulena Haxhiu said during a press conference yesterday that she cannot call a session to elect the president without two more candidates. So far, only Konjufca has been officially proposed.
