The lawyer for the principal of the "Pavarësia" school, Rinor Bajrami, said that his client had filed a criminal complaint a few days ago against a student who was involved in a physical conflict with a teacher. According to the lawyer, the student had threatened to kill and had severely insulted the principal and his family.
The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina announced on Thursday that it has expanded its investigations into the school principal, after he was seen in a video hitting the same student involved in the case with the teacher.

Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support ContributeLawyer Bajrami said that in addition to February 5, the student threatened the principal and on February 9, when the video of the principal hitting the student was released, and that this action by the principal was precisely due to these circumstances.
"On February 5, 2026, my client filed a criminal complaint against student AO for threats of murder, insults and serious insults against him and his family. So, the law enforcement agencies were informed of the situation a few days before the published incident. On February 9, 2026, he was again faced with insults against his family, with serious insults to his 2 and a half year old daughter and with direct threats to his life by the same person. His reaction occurred in those specific circumstances, under the direct influence of the threat. Immediately after the critical moment, he himself called the police and reported the incident," the lawyer's explanation states.
Bajrami added that the criminal liability of the school principal should be analyzed in the full factual and legal context, "and not in isolation from the circumstances that preceded and accompanied the event."
