The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has announced that the white chicken meat traded in Kosovo is safe for consumption and meets the legal criteria for trade.
The AUV announced on Facebook on Tuesday that investigations have been conducted following suspicions that chicken meat originating from Brazil had tested positive for salmonella.
"All test results confirm that the white chicken meat traded in Kosovo is safe. After raising suspicions that chicken meat originating from Brazil had tested positive in Albania. The Food and Veterinary Agency had taken action to remove suspicions for the Kosovar consumer. With a thorough investigation, imposing additional control measures including sampling. Sales restrictions until confirmation through laboratory test results. Today, the results were released, which confirmed that the meat that has been traded and that which was being imported is safe for consumption and meets the legal criteria for trading," the Agency's announcement states.
This institution announced that samples of chicken meat originating from Brazil have been tested in terms of microbiology.
"The tests were performed with ANSR advanced method for DNA amplification of Salmonella spp. The same were also confirmed with the classical method based on ISO 6579-1. The limits determined according to the regulation on microbiological criteria in food products No. 27/2012, as well as the amendment supplement 09/2018. The Food and Veterinary Agency will always act in accordance with the legislation in force, to remove consumer doubts about any uncertainty in products. We are working every day so that food safety in the country is believed as a fact and as a perception," the announcement says.
