In the airport runway certification flight, according to media in Tirana, the first to land was the private plane of Behgjet Pacolli, whose company was part of the consortium that built this airport.

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has congratulated citizens on the operationalization of another airport in this country.

"I also thank the group from Kosovo who is present here. And I express my confidence that this two proud eagles that have been entrusted to the body of Vlora Airport with human resources from Kosovo and Albania, will raise the name of this airport very high, for the quality of this airport," said Rama.

While speaking about the benefits that the country will have, especially in the field of tourism, from the Vlora International Airport, Rama also touched on the challenges that the Kukës airport is facing. 
Rama has also announced the resumption of work on it.

"That airport has had its own challenges in securing operators, there are problems with the landing corridor, it is not a simple airport. An 'icebreaker' has not been found in time, which will prove its worth as an airport. We will soon have an Albanian company that will start flights at the Kukes airport. 'Air Kosova' will be this company, with two aircraft of our common pride", emphasized the Albanian Prime Minister.

And former MP, who has also held several executive positions in the past, Behgjet Pacolli, said that this will be the most beautiful airport in the region.

The airport is spread over an area of ​​309 hectares. It has a 3.2 kilometer runway and the construction cost is 140 million euros. It is expected to open for passengers during the summer. With this, the number of airports in Albania has increased to three.
