The Americans of Prizren

Sam Green from San Francisco and Michael Grienauer from Los Angeles did not know each other before their arrival in Kosovo. They have been building their friendship for a year, even though they are far from their hometown.

But in advance they managed to create special relations with the community in Prizren. As Peace Corps volunteers, serving in community development and education projects, the two young Americans have already managed to integrate into Prizren society, writes "Koha Ditore" today.

Green even became the godfather of the host family's daughter, perpetuating his connection with the Old City community, in which he served for two years. Unlike him, Grienauer has been working in Prizren for a year as an English language teacher, which has helped him make friends among the school community.

In addition to good relations in the working environment, both American volunteers have managed to further expand their friendship circles in the local community, which, according to them, is an inspiring experience.

The reasons are similar in terms of motivation to join the Peace Corps. Sam Green shows that he intends to make a career in the American public service, while he has a passion for traveling and getting to know new cultures.

"After basic studies in international relations, I decided to join the Peace Corps, where Kosovo was my first choice, due to the fact that during my studies we dealt with relations in the former Yugoslavia, that's why there was information about the events here" , Green said...
