The Ukrainian ambassador to Serbia, Volodymyr Tolkach, stated that it is difficult to explain why Ukraine is not recognizing Kosovo's independence, although Pristina "supports Ukraine wholeheartedly".
As "Danas" reported on Thursday, the ambassador expressed that he supports the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, although according to him, Ukraine adheres to the principle of territorial integrity of Serbia.
"Today, the question arises as to who is on whose side, and it is difficult to explain to Ukrainian citizens why Kiev does not officially support the independence of Kosovo, while Pristina supports Ukraine everywhere. Despite all this, Ukraine respects international norms. We also support the dialogue in Brussels between Belgrade and Pristina, from which we expect success", stated Tolkach.
According to him, the current cooperation between Ukraine and Kosovo is at a low level.
Ukrainian MP, Oleksiy Goncharenko, declared weeks ago that in Ukraine the idea of recognizing Kosovo is being supported, but according to him, no readiness has been officially seen.
Kosovo aligned itself with Ukraine and against Russia, since the beginning of the Russian aggression (February 24), through the imposition of sanctions.
Meanwhile, Serbia is among the few countries in Europe that has not yet imposed sanctions on Russia.
