The US Embassy in Kosovo has posted on its website on the "X" platform the statement with which the US had recognized the state of Kosovo.
On February 18, 2008, then Secretary Condoleezza Rice sent a letter confirming the recognition of the state of Kosovo.
"On this day, 16 years ago, the USA officially recognized Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. In the statement of the then Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, it was said that President George Bush responded positively to Kosovo's request to establish diplomatic relations between our two countries. The establishment of these relations will reaffirm the special bonds of friendship that have bound together the people of the United States and Kosovo", the post of the US Embassy in Kosovo states.
