The Embassy of Kosovo is committed to finding a solution to the problems of Kosovar tourists in Durrës

The Embassy of Kosovo in Albania, through the Acting Ambassador, Sylë Ukshini, has held a meeting with the head of the Municipality of Durrës, Vangjush Dako.

According to the announcement, Ukshini says that Dako is predisposed to offering solutions in favor of the tourist operators from Kosovo, but emphasizes that so far they have not contacted any authorities of the Municipality of Durrës.

"After the news was published in the Albanian media about the blocking of buses from Kosovo to the beach area, today I held a meeting with the Mayor of Durres, Vangjush Dako, who denied that the local authorities of Durres are discriminating against buses from Kosovo. In relation to my concern as to why there is a kind of selection that is made only to companies from Kosovo, since buses from other countries are not stopped in this way, Mayor Dako gave this explanation: that the authorities of Durrës have decided to divert traffic for buses that the line from Kosovo, since most of the eyes do not have a specific destination, but stop outside the stations, in every corner of the city, causing obstacles in traffic and in the movement of tourists and citizens", says the press release of the Embassy of Kosovo.

Dako, according to the Embassy of Kosovo, has also confirmed that for foreign tourists, who arrive by land or through Rinas Airport and then by bus to stay in hotels, such a stop does not apply due to the fact that their operators only have a destination and do not stop in the city.

"Also, he confirmed to me that the operators with foreign tourists have previously been provided with circulation permits to move in the beach area, but always considering that they only have one destination and one stopping point (hotel or tourist complex)", it is further emphasized in this announcement, reports Koha.net.

Ukshini asked Dako if the tourist operators of Kosovo can be equipped with such a permit, in order to avoid dissatisfaction at the peak of the arrival of the citizens of Kosovo, but the head of the Municipality of Durrës told him that until now no tourist operator from Kosovo has come or contacted the authorities of Durrës and that the whole problem has been learned through the press.

Dako, says the Embassy of Kosovo, has welcomed today's meeting and has assured that the Municipality of Durres remains open to negotiate with all Kosovar operators and is very predisposed to find a solution as favorable as possible and in the interest of these operators .

"Starting from this conversation, we received the guarantee from the mayor Dako that the office of the Municipality will be open at all times to receive the managers of the tourist operators from Kosovo, in order to offer them the best and most practical solution, adding that at no time is it a question of discrimination against Kosovars, but only of order and order in traffic", it is emphasized in the communiqué of the Embassy of Kosovo.

According to the Mayor of Durrës, the tourist buses from Kosovo pass through the ring of the beach and also have 4-5 secondary roads in this area near "Pavarësia" road.

"At this point, he gave the reason that this deviation is being done to have more traffic order and to create more access to the city for Albanian and foreign tourists. In this context, he has underlined that this stopping measure also applies to the vans of the Albanian companies, which make supplies in the city", it is emphasized in the announcement of the Embassy.

Dako is known to have told the Acting Ambassador of Kosovo to Albania, Sylë Ukshini, that these problems came from the lack of communication between the tourist operators and the Durres authorities.

"Dako assured us that the authorities of Durrës always welcome tourists from Kosovo, regardless of the arrival of tourists from other countries, such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bosnia, and others", says Ukshini.
