Indictment against 20 people for war crimes in Gjakova, including Radoicic

Special Prosecution

The Special Prosecution has filed an indictment, with a proposal to hold a trial in absentia, against 20 defendants for war crimes against the civilian population in the municipality of Gjakova.

Defendants MK, RC, MD, PR, SK, LO, Zh.S., SS, LD, ZR, DG, Ç.B., VB, RB, RR, LR, M.Sh., MR, SG, TA, are said to be charged with the criminal offense of "War crimes against the civilian population".

As KOHA has learned from sources, among the accused is Milan Radoićić, the main accused in the terrorist attack in Banjska. 

According to the indictment, during the years 1998-1999, MK, in his capacity as the head of the Secretariat of Internal Affairs (SUP) in Gjakova, R. Ç., in his capacity as the commander of the Special Police units (PJP) and MD, in his capacity as the commander of the 52nd Rocket Artillery Brigade, together with the defendants PR, SK, LO, Zh.S., SS, LD, ZR, DG, Ç.B.,VB,RB,RR,LR, M.Sh.,MR, SG, TA, in their capacity as members of the aforementioned units, are accused of participating in the killing of 107 civilians during a large-scale military-police operation.

During this operation, according to the indictment, the defendants initially separated the women and children from the men.

The women were robbed, taking their gold jewelry, money, and other valuables, while the men were executed, some in their homes and yards, some at the location known as "Taliqi Bridge."

In April 2025, it was reported that the Basic Court in Pristina had issued arrest warrants for war crimes against Radoicic and 19 other Serbs.

The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo on September 11, 2024, filed an indictment against Radoicic and 44 others for the September 24, 2023 attack in Banjska.

Radoicic has admitted responsibility for the terrorist attack in Banjska. However, he is being held at large in Serbia.
