The Association of Journalists of Kosovo has published on Tuesday the annual report "Indicators of the level of media freedom and safety of journalists" for 2022, the findings of which have resulted in an increase in the number of attacks on journalists in the country.
As the AGK has announced, the report that was drawn up by the researcher, Getoarbë Mulliqi-Bojaj, within the framework of the regional platform Safe Journalists and describes in detail the situation of the legislation and the socio-economic and political issues in relation to the freedom of the media and the safety of journalists in Kosovo.
"According to the findings of this report, the security situation of journalists continues to be serious, the number of attacks on journalists has increased from 29 in 2021, to 33 in 2022, while the tendency for silence is highlighted of journalists through SLAPP lawsuits", says the announcement issued by this association.
In addition to Mulliqi-Bojaj, the findings of the report were presented by the legal expert of the report, Yll Zekaj, as well as the chairman of the AGK Board, Xhemajl Rexha.
"As recommendations of the report, it was emphasized the need for journalists to report all cases of violation of their rights, better cooperation of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo with the media, as well as to create as soon as possible the Management System Data from the KJC on the cases of journalists", it was further stated in the communiqué.
