The Group for Legal and Policy Studies (GLPS) has called for immediate action by Kosovo authorities in order to benefit from the European Union's Growth Plan.
The Parliament today approved the agreement that foresees the release of more than 880 million euros for Kosovo from this European Union package for the Western Balkans. The funds are released depending on the reforms that Kosovo implements. GLPS has assessed this decision as delayed, however, it has said that it is an important moment on the path towards European integration of Kosovo.

Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support ContributeDue to the delays so far, according to GLPS, the deadlines have already started to run out. This organization has called on the Government to proceed immediately with the establishment of the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Growth Plan and the appointment of a national coordinator, to ensure the execution of the prepayment of 7% of the total, namely 61.8 million euros.
"There are now no legislative obstacles and immediate action is essential for the successful implementation of the Reform Agenda within the foreseen deadlines," a GLPS response states.
GLPS has warned that the primary deadlines for reporting the three semesters have already ended and that the grace period deadlines are approaching. In order to benefit from about 90 million euros, GLPS has recommended a serious push from the Government and the Parliament. The reform measures have a deadline until June 30. We are talking about 13 measures.
In order to benefit from these funds, GLPS has recommended the establishment of a coordination task force to serve the immediate implementation of the measures.
Finally, this organization has called for the unification of the political spectrum.
"This is vital, because with their implementation, on the one hand our country benefits financially, while on the other hand we approximate the legal, political and administrative framework with the EU acquis. After a year lost with political clashes, now is the time for rapid and decisive reforms," the GLPS response states.
