The President of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has supported the decision of the Government of Kosovo to offer shelter to Afghan citizens in our country.
In a Facebook post, he calls the decision to shelter Afghans endangered by the conflict in Afghanistan right, necessary and without alternative, saying that Kosovo, in addition to its moral obligation, must accept the Afghans as a sign of respect for the US request.
"In addition to being a sign of respect for the request of our allies, the USA, it is also a moral obligation of a small country that once found refuge in the world. The people of Kosovo recognize the suffering of children, women and men who leave their country as a last resort. At this time, security for them is the greatest contribution that a country like ours can offer - an example for many countries around the world," Abdixhiku writes.
The Government of Kosovo has approved the decision to provide temporary and immediate protection from the Republic of Kosovo to Afghan citizens who have been collaborators of the US government in Afghanistan, as well as to their family members.
