Lumir Abdixhiku, chairman of the Democratic League, has said that he "extends his hand for the damage they have caused to Kosovo" to the six MPs of this entity, who opposed the agreement with Vetëvendosje for Bekim Sejdiu to be president.
A day earlier, Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Arben Gashi, Janina Ymeri, Armend Zemaj and Kujtim Shala came out against the agreement that the chairman of this entity reached with Vetëvendosje to propose Bekim Sejdiu for president. The agreement was even supported by the party's Presidency. Without these votes, Sejdiu's vote seems unattainable unless other Albanian parties are included.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Abdixhiku criticized these MPs, warning of punitive measures. On Wednesday, on Facebook, he said that he does not understand what these MPs are “beating their chests” about. According to Abdixhiku, with this refusal they are determined to lead Kosovo to another round of new elections.
"Yesterday, no governing agreement with VV was rejected, because such an agreement did not exist. LDK had decided to remain in the OPPOSITION. All our MPs had agreed with this position. So, what are they beating their chests for? What have they saved? Yesterday, the solution of the President of Kosovo was rejected. The vote for the candidate proposed by LDK was rejected and, with this rejection, the fate of the country was also determined, new elections. Anyone can do harm. For this, here is the hand!", Abdixhiku wrote.
He further accused these MPs of falling to 12 percent in 2012. Abdixhiku said that new elections were not the agenda of the LDK, but of other political groups.

These opposition MPs have said they are against extending the term of office of the incumbent Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.
