The Independent Union of Trepça Miners has announced that it has withdrawn from holding the planned protest on Thursday, after the decision taken by the Government of Kosovo to allocate 4 million euros to the company "Trepça" to subsidize the miners' wages.
"Based on the fact that yesterday we announced that we will hold a protest near the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, with the sole purpose of demanding the execution of unpaid salaries, and taking into account the Government's reflection, we withdraw from the protest that will it would happen tomorrow", says the announcement of the Syndicate.
The union has said that the aim of the miners for the execution of salaries has almost been realized and that it is estimated that holding the protest is unnecessary.
"This was the sole purpose of the protest and at no time can and should not be given political colors to the demands of the miners. The miners have not asked and are not asking for anything other than decent working conditions and wages. Our commitment to mining is and will always remain unwavering. Therefore, we ask all miners to return to work", the union said.
