The Emergency Management Agency has announced that the fire spread in the Prevalla national park has not yet been located, but that there is no danger to the lives and property of the residents of the area.

According to an announcement on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in addition to firefighters and rescuers from Prizren, those from Gjakova, Prishtina and Ferizaj were also involved in the operations to extinguish the fire from the ground.

"Also, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications informs you that there is no danger to the lives and property of residents in Prevalle, as long as the efforts to keep the fire under control and localize continue by the capacities of the municipality of Prizren with the help of municipalities", the announcement states.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, after the meeting with the emergency headquarters, said that the situation is under control and that the risk is lower.

"Since we are dealing with the National Park, it is implied that institutions at the national level, as well as international ones such as KFOR, have obligations and the headquarters is in full coordination with all the authorized actors who are dealing with this issue, while the situation is is monitored and no escalation is expected", says an announcement from Totaj's cabinet.

According to the announcement, intervention and localization of the fire is planned today to have it under control and to minimize the eventual consequences.

Also present in the operation are the Kosovo Police, members of the national park and the emergency medical service from Prizren.

The fire in the mountains of Prevalla started in the early hours of Sunday.
