Some pine trees in the "Velani" neighborhood in Pristina are being cut, as a road is planned to be built in that part.

Some of the pine trees that have already been cut down can be seen in the photos that the residents of that neighborhood have sent to TIME.

Residents have said that they are about 50 years old.

The Director of Capital Investments in the Municipality of Pristina, Krenar Xhaferi, said that this road will be built to free up a part of the traffic in "Velani".

According to him, the construction of this road was a request of the residents and he said that it cannot be built without their consent.

"We are working to release part of the traffic in 'Vleani' and this road will do that. It was really a request of the residents of that part and our electoral promise. We cannot work without clearing the street frontage. I believe that it is a very good job that we are doing and I remember that that road will free up the traffic a lot", said Xhaferi.
