A year after being elected to the position of the mayor of the municipality of Zubin-Potoku, Izmir Zeqiri, has returned to the municipal facility, where the session of the Assembly was held.
The return to the facility has been confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Arbër Vokrri.
He also said that the mayor of the Municipality of Zveçan, Ilir Peci, will soon move to the municipal facility.
According to Vokrri, in Zubin-Potok the renovation of the demolished offices will continue, while in Zveçan the relocation of some directorates has already begun and the whole process is expected to be completed during the next week.
He added that the meeting of the Municipal Assembly of Zveçan is expected to be held on Tuesday.
Until now, Zeqiri has exercised his duties from an alternative office in the village of Çabër, while Peci in the office in the village of Lipë.
Both come from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. After the tensions that were created in the north and the protests organized by the Serbs who did not allow them to exercise their functions from municipal facilities, they have responded to the call of internationals to exercise their duties from alternative offices.
The mayor of Vetëvendosje, Lulzim Hetemi, refused to leave the premises of the municipality of Leposaviq, even though his presence there was opposed for days with protests, of which mainly journalists suffered, being attacked and injured by Serbian protesters. .
Noise was not created in North Mitrovica, after the election of the chairman from among the Vetëvendosje Movement, Erden Atiq, who exercised his duties from the municipal facility.
The deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, has said that the situation in the four municipalities in the north is calm and that they are aware of every action that takes place there.
"For every action of Kosovo's institutions that happens in the north of the country, the Police has knowledge, the situation in the north is calm, but it is considered delicate", Elshani emphasized.
The leadership of the local level in Leposaviq, Zveçan, Zubin-Potok and North Mitrovica, non-Serb mayors took over after an election process boycotted by the majority of Serbian citizens.
In these municipalities, inhabited mainly by Serbs, the Albanian mayors started work in an extraordinary situation. In addition to the one of North Mitrovica, the other three mayors made the commitment to perform the task, in which they were elected with minimal votes, in the school facilities of the villages and not in the municipal ones.
While in the north of Mitrovica, the whole process took place without much noise, the situation was quite different in other municipalities.
Tensions, violence, protests and many troubles have accompanied the attempts of the mayors of Leposaviq, Zveçan and Zubin-Potok to enter their offices.
The most dangerous situation prevailed in Zveçan. There, dozens of members of KFOR and the Kosovo Police were injured by violent Serbian protesters who objected to the presence of the mayor in the municipality building.
The burden for the extension of the situation in the three northern municipalities was placed on the Government of Kosovo.
The international factor continuously asked her to remove the mayors from the municipalities and exercise their duties remotely.
Two of the three mayors who were opposed with protests, gave up performing the functions of the municipal offices and agreed to continue their work in alternative offices.
Albanian mayors remain in power in the four northern municipalities even after the April 21 vote, organized after a petition signed by Serbs there, supported by Lista Serbe.
The vote for or against the removal of the four presidents would be successful if 50 percent plus one voter turnout were reached. However, out of about 46 registered citizens, only about 250 people exercised their right to vote.
