A child was bitten by a stray dog on Monday inside the yard of the public nursery "Gezimi Ynë", in the neighborhood "Ulpiana", in Pristina.
Aridona Demolli-Lumi, the child's mother, confirmed the news for KOHEN. She said that her 4-year-old son was bitten on both legs, while the wound on one leg is bigger.
Demolli-Lumi said that the psychological damage is much more serious than the physical.
"Yesterday, my son was bitten in the garden yard, one wound is more serious. Initially, the ambulance went there and the wound was treated, but later he went to the hospital because of the wound and now he needs to be cleaned from time to time", Demolli-Lumi said.
She said that the kindergarten manager told her that the problem of stray dogs is not the responsibility of the kindergarten, but of the Municipality.
"The manager told me that we have written several times to the municipality about this problem, but so far there has been no solution", said Demolli-Lumi.
KOHA has not been able to contact the director of the kindergarten. She has not responded to the message sent either.
Demolli-Lumi said that she has not been able to contact him either.
"It is abroad", said Demolli-Lumi.
Meanwhile, Habib Qorri, head of the Directorate of Public Services in the municipality of Pristina, said that there is no information regarding Monday's incident. He was not aware if requests for the renovation of the fence were submitted to the municipality earlier.
"We have to see if the request was made in other directorates", said Qorri.
KOHA is also waiting for an answer from the Police.
Attacks by stray dogs in Pristina have been frequent this year. Many citizens constantly present these attacks on social networks.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated earlier this year that the large presence of stray dogs is a problem that must be addressed from its roots, in order to provide a sustainable and effective solution.
