Today marks 24 years since the death of the Albanian humanist, Nobel laureate St. Teresa.
"Saint Teresa never started any of her work without worshiping God in the Eucharist. Let us imitate her with prayer and worship. Blessed Mother Teresa - Pray for us! Let's honor our holy daughter, the Mother of Humanity, the Ambassador of our ancient people!", is the call to participate in the Friday Mass in the Cathedral.
Saint Teresa, whose full name is Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, was born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje. She was a well-known Albanian humanist, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, and on October 19, 2003, she was declared blessed by the Vatican.
She was the guardian mother of 7,500 children in 60 schools, she was the mother who treated 960,000 sick people in 213 dispensaries, she was the only one in the world who treated 47,000 victims of leprosy in 54 clinics, she took care of 3,400 abandoned and streetwise elders, in 20 nursing home, had adopted 160 illegitimate and virgin children. These are the numbers from the mid-80s, and between the time Saint Teresa was alive and today the numbers have changed a lot.
Saint Teresa passed away on September 5, 1997 in Calcutta, India.

There are two universally known miracles that paved the way for the sanctification of the Albanian nun.
The first was the testimony of Monika Besra, mother of 5 children. She has stated that praying in front of the icon of Mother Teresa cured her of stomach tumor disease. The event took place in 1998, a year after the death of Mother Teresa. She confessed that her followers took her to a church and told her to pray in front of the photo of the Albanian. They had given her a medallion of Mother Teresa which they placed on her stomach. When he woke up, Besra said that the pain and illness had disappeared. This miracle was recognized by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
