On the morning of March 15, 2005, while the escort of President Ibrahim Rugova was making the usual way from the residence in Velani to the Assembly building where the Office of the President was located, Rugova escaped an assassination attempt.
A few minutes later, Rugova had to meet in his office with the former High Representative for Foreign Policy of the European Union, Javier Solana, who had come to Pristina to talk with political leaders about the situation after Haradinaj's departure and finding of a solution for the government that would succeed him, reports kp.
The BBC correspondent in Pristina said that at around 8:20 local time, he heard a powerful explosion on Ramiz Sadiku Street, behind the National Theatre.
The perpetrators of this attack have never been found.
