Esquina Lörrach

The idea was born after a young man came to work in the kitchen where I worked, an experienced and educated chef from northern Italy, the Veneto-Venice region, Kreshniku, originally from northern Albania.

I am Nehat Sabedini and I come from Kosovo, the village of Radivojcë, - one kilometer near the well-known bath Kllokot Bath - Municipality of Vitija.

Arriving in Switzerland: I also have a story like the vast majority of Albanians in the early 90s; From the beginning I was passionate about the kitchen, I started working in different restaurants and hotels and after gaining experience in different kitchens I finally settled in the restaurant "Papa Joe's" where almost over 80% of the kitchen recipes are with meat consumption.

After a very short time I managed to be one of the best workers and received several praises and rewards from the owners of the company that has a chain of restaurants of different world cuisines. I was employed in a restaurant with South American (Mexican) cuisine. My desire for cuisine and hospitality from the family tradition that we Albanians have is one of the points that resulted in this restaurant.

We have a tradition to welcome the guest with a smile and harmony and send them off with a bright face, and I noticed that, in the training I did for the restaurant manager, I learned those manners, those "subtleties", but those manners and that education I had inherited and brought with me, and it is a good tradition that we have over time, I explained to my Swiss friends and colleagues that we, as a people, have hospitality and solidarity in our genes, and with solidarity, charity and connection immediately "Mother Teresa".

The work brought me results and I didn't look at the material side but only the work side, the knowledge and I was very curious to learn the things of the kitchen, learn new things and offer creativity in the place where I worked.

Before completing 2 decades at the head of gastronomy, I made the decision to open my bar near the border with Switzerland and France, in Lörach, Germany, a place in the triangle.

I saw that Kreshniku ​​had a lot of knowledge and passion in the kitchen and was very creative and in a very short time he had managed to become one of the leaders of the kitchen where we both worked earlier, so I took the courage and trust I had in Kreshniku ​​to I become the owner myself with Kreshnik as co-owner.

Why is Nehati known by almost the entire elite of Albanian and Swiss football?

The restaurant "Papa Joe's" in Basel, where I have worked for over 18 years, was the place where the FC Basel team celebrated their victories in this restaurant and I was the leader, so I made contacts with the football elite in this restaurant, and this made me helped to directly or indirectly convey them to the athletes and to Albanian football.

I was a player of the FC Dardania team from Basel and football for me and my contribution to football has been and remains in the right hand.

The village of Radivojcë has many football fans and children love this sport, while Nehati is the biggest sponsor of soccer balls or jerseys for over 20 years. If you ask a child where you bought them or who bought them these beautiful and always abundant balls, the answer is NEHATI Balls, but Nehati is also on the list of organizers in the first order for charity in every aspect!

Kindness, reliability and food have made the Albanian football stars to be and remain good friends and well-wishers of my restaurant, and this has also been appreciated by my former owners earlier where the football stars were fed in that restaurant, that's why today our restaurant, "Esquina" in Lörrach, is the most visited restaurant by Albanian footballers and partly also by those of other nationalities. The legend of Kosovar football, Fadil Vokrri, had also found this credibility, where Nehati and some sports fans gave the maximum contribution to the recognition of Kosovo in the UEFA federation.

Food: at the "Esquina" restaurant we specialize in meat and offer high quality meat with many different specialties.

We have a motto in our restaurant: Qualitative food and cheerful behavior with guests, and these make our restaurant for a very short time during lunch, dinner and weekends start with reservations even though this year we have expanded the capacity for 90 additional seats.

We have many companies, different parties that make reservations and at the same time as we are also a restaurant where sports people are almost always present, we have Albanian guests from countries with different distances, where they visit us with their children, of course with the hope that they will also take some photos with sports stars or be close to them. As it is said, the athletes are always available to take photos with children or sign autographs, even though they may be at dinner or lunch time, and for that I thank the athletes because they are very close to our community.

At the moment, we hope that by vaccinating everyone, as Germany is also asking for guests who enter restaurants to be vaccinated, our capacity is full, and as far as further expansion with another restaurant is concerned, we are not thinking because our goal at the moment is to be even higher in the top list of the most requested restaurants in the Switzerland-Germany-France triangle.
